RIGGING / General

¨Rigging is the art of using knots and lines, either to move things or to keep them from moving¨
Brion Toss

We use the term ¨rigging¨ for the operations referring to the complete new rigg installation, the change of the existing rigg, and to the removal and setting up of the mast.
By correctly done rigging, when setting up a new mast, unintended consequences will be avoided. The consequences of a bad done rigging can be disastrous (i.e. mast fall) what is rare; more often is, however, the unnecessary overloading of the mast, rigg and the sailing yacht itself.

The durability of the rigg system (as roller furlings, mast rollers, roller booms etc.) is significantly reduced by incorrect mast setting, and thus the sail damages are frequent.
Factory errors are also frequent at delivery of all relevant parts and are difficult to be detected before the mast hoisting itself. So, for example, it can happen that the mast hoisting has been done, but you have to disassemble the mast, because the wires are not of proper length.
All these are reasons why you should entrust such job to an experienced team, that has often managed to solve the listed problems successfully.

The rigging of a new sailing yacht inludes following operations:

check and, if necessary, sealing of the deck shroud bases
check and, if necessary, tension of the interior shroud bases
laying cables for the wind instrument, radio antenna and other electric cables in agreement with the client
additonal ropes pulling in agreement with the client
mast rigging preparation by crane: spreader installation; installation of appropriate wires; furling compilation, lubrication of the upper furler roller and roll mainsail bearings, as well as of wire shrouds
preparation of the existing ropes before the rigging
correctness check of the fitted lights before the mast rigging
mast rigging by crane
mast installation midships and its tuning on factory settings
boom and vang installation, laying cables to the cockpit
laying mast cables under deck
sail hoisting in agreement with the client
installation of sprayhood, bimini top, steering wheel and railing (if necessary) in agreement with the client
if necessary (at larger sailing yachts) in agreement with the client, installation of rudder blade and keel fin by forklift crane
additional tuning after about a month of sailing (when the wires have ¨worked off¨)

Mast tuning service will be carried out exclusively near Zadar and at the date arranged with the client.Such additional tuning is indeed important because the current situation will be checked and all eventual defects can preventively be removed.
Only after mast tuning completion can we guarantee for our job.
